Royal Viking's Ben of Tormodkot.
Ben is a big, strong, healthy Norwegian Forest
Cat with a huge heart. He is the caretaker of all
of the cats. He loves them dearly. BEN IS THE
SIRE OF MY NORWEGIANS.

NORWEGIAN Forest Cats
We have Royal Viking's Ben, a Blue Smoke Tabby with White , as our first Norwegian
Breeder. Ben comes from pedigrees with strong heads, heavy boning and lovely coats. In
the winter the coats are bountiful and warm with a large ruff. In the summer the
outermost coat disappears and the cat appears sometimes to be one with short hair.
These cats, then, are classified as semi-long haired cats. The present day Norwegian
bears little resemblance to the original forest cats which are said to have roamed the
fields and forests' and reportedly lived with the Vikings. They are, however, closely
being monitored by many breeders to retain the strength and hardiness which those cats
undoubtedly had.
Their stature and demeanor indicates they are in charge, but they have loving, sensitive,
oval, slightly slanted eyes which reflect their love for both humans and for other animals
within their family. These eyes are shades of green and gold.
Norwegians are devoted to their owners and purr to greet you. They are all wonderful
types, but some of the types resemble more Pans Truls, who was supposed to have been
the first of the breed. This is the natural cat, the farm cat, the cat that roamed in
fields near streams .and fended for himself, while Persians and others were pampered in
the show rooms, early in the history of show cats.
Norwegians were not shown or registered until the 1970's. In recent times (in the late
1980's), Norwegians were allowed to be shown with other breeds. Norwegian are "pure"
in that they have never been bred to another breed. Ben's sire is Royal Viking's Sune av
Sandrabben, His dame is royal Viking's Bjork av Skrivernatten. Both of Ben's parents
are Norwegian imports.

The Siberian Male with whom we will start our line is Iz Odissei's Odysseus.
He is a Nevamasquerade Red Point Tabby. Odysseus, a wonderful Colorpoint Tabby, is a
European Grand Champion with many awards.
In the Siberian line we will be breeding for a strong standard which is just being
developed in the United States. Our model will be the Russian Standard which specifies
strong heads, strong bodies and triple coats. Regarding colors, we will hope for many
beautiful ones from the combinations of cats we are breeding. There should be
Tabbies, Solids, Smokes and Color Points. We could produce cats which are spotted as
well with the wild look of the Bobcat. The Silvers with tabby markings maintain the look
of the silver fox.

than the Norwegians which are quite triangular. The coats of these cats have a
uniqueness regarding how it feels. It is dense, and soft at the same time. The hair is not
fine, but with the winter triple coat...feels very thick. Their personalities are filled with

cats will take hold of your heart and not let go. They are pure, gentle, joy!
